Obon
Obon is the holiday where in Japan we welcome our dead relatives into the house and some other stuff that I stopped trying to figure out. Really it means we go to the grave yard and honor our dead ancestors. No problem there.
It also means we get a week off work. A week is a long time and we really didn't have much planed so mostly Eric and I went to the pool allot.
We had a really great BBQ and allot of Eric Satomi and my friends came. It was really great unfortunately no pics. Next time. But I want to give a big shout out to The Meat Guy The Meat Guy! for hooking me up at the last minute with some nice fat steaks and sausages. They were the real hit of the party!
Eric and I did some stuff day we went to my friend Brent's in-laws house.
First we went to the stream outside the yard and Eric, Ryoma and Brent caught crayfish. Eric loves that kinda stuff and Brent was looking at what he thought might be a potential dinner.
They set up a traditional udon noodle washing.....thing... you basically pour the noodles in at one end and the noodles go down a long piece of bamboo as the noodles pass by you pick out what you want and put it in your bowl and eat it. Eric and Ryoma thought it was cool to watch their chop sticks slide down the tube instead of picking up the noodles.
Later we went for a walk to a small park nearby.
There were fish and ducks we has a good time feeding them.
We went back and I took a nap while Eric and the other kids blew off some fire works with Brent.
Finally we went home and like always Eric did not want to leave cause he was having so much fun...... but after a few minutes in the car he was fast asleep.
I worked on Friday of that week and Satomi and Eric came to Tokyo and visited. We went to the park and finally met up with Bill and Kuzue. Eric won a balloon Minie Mouse made by this guy.
Which like the good kid that he is he gave away to another cute girl. Which he did on his own and I thought was very cool of him.
Later on He was in Mr. Dais show and won a Balloon Motor Cycle. He was pretty lucky that day.
Later we all went to a Izakia (a traditional Japanese beer hall) together and and I proceeded to get really REALLY DRUNK.. on the way home I was acting quite the fool. Lately stress and pressure of being in Japan and things not going well (well not going the way I would like them) family wise and I just let it out ... ALL out that night. I drink every day one or two sometimes 3 beers but that night I was off my head and a little more out of control then I prefer.
With that the next day we all went to lunch together and I suffered through a hangover. Eric and Satomi got on the bus and Obon came to a close.
