Let it snow!

Snowfall in TokyoIt snowed last night in Tokyo. It typically snows once or twice every 2 years or so and not a heck of allot when it does snow. For me it is the perfect amount. Just enough to remember how much fun I had in Derby in the winters, and not enough to be annoying. Lots of people stayed home and my morning commute was very nice and not so congested.

Tateno Pool

Tateno-pool

tateno park underwaterThere was a really nice warm December day on a Saturday a few weeks back, which happened after a big rain storm. Some of the kids thought it was nice enough..... to go for a swim in the huge mud puddle that had formed.

Eric was fortunately smart enough to avoid the water but still came home a mess.

Conbini Bento Plus

My Combini-Bento

Combini Combo to make your lunch experience less unappealing Cash is low and money is tight these days so I usually bring leftovers from home for lunch. I forgot it the other day and could not find anything in the convenient store racks that suited me, so, I made my own. I bought a 400 yen ($4) bowl of pasta and sauce and a 100 yen piece of chicken and was able to get a semi decent meal out of it. The Marie's Hot Sauce definitely helped.

The Daily Show with John Stewart on CNN in JapanApparently confused about what network they are or what is news and what is comedy, CNN has been showing The Daily Show with John Stewart at prime time. WTF?

Have they no news of their own?

Dont Drink and Ride

Don't Drink and Ride

Odayku Train Politness InformationThis a Odakyu Train line poster reminding riders of the dangers of drinking too much during the holiday season. Hazards like falling onto the tracks, falling down trying to get on the train, fighting with other passengers and of course, being too drunk and missing your stop.

I assume puking every where is part of it too but they kindly left that visual out of it.

Tokyo Tower

Tokyo Tower

Tokyo Tower
After our stop at the Pokemon Center (see below), as we went to get back on the train I noticed that it had stopped raining and we could see Tokyo Tower from where we were. It looked like about a 30 minute walk from where we were so we decided to give it a try.

I had never been there and neither had Eric or Anna. We went up to the observation deck and it was a great view of all of Tokyo. I wanted to take more pictures but left the good camera at home and had to settle for the phone camera.

Building being torn down in Daikanyama

A building getting knocked down in Daikanyama. It looks strangely like a building in a war torn country, not one of the most expensive areas in Tokyo.

This was a old school that they are getting rid of. I wonder what will happen to the land.

 Metal Gods Judas Priest
Judas Priest there is a name you haven't heard in 20 years. The were on the cover with Rob Halford as the front man for a Halloween special. I forgot to watch it.

Engrih in Daikanyama

I work at a data center in up scale Daikanyama in Tokyo. The area is know as a holly land of shopping and high priced fashion. The irony is that you can walk into this store and purchase a coat that elsewhere is probably 100 to 200 dollars less, and they cant pay some one to print sentences that make sense on the window.

Do Do!

Last month they showed everyone that they "Love Do Do!"

This month "I am coat mania!"
